First Voyage of the Prince Charles in 1517 (Emperor Carlos V)

Emperor Carlos V was one of the kings who traveled the most. His entire life, from trips to gastronomy, was documented by the chroniclers who accompanied him. The itineraries are integrated into a network that belongs to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and is called Routes of the Emperor Carlos V "Itinera Carolus V Imperator". The First Voyage of Prince Charles passed through the Saja Nansa region in 1517. Briefly, after his grandfather Fernando el Católico died, he had to come to the Iberian Peninsula to take possession of his lands as heir. Prince Carlos, who lived in Flandes, undertook a journey with his entourage. The crossing through the Cantabrian Sea was not very good: a great storm caused the expedition to split into two. The ship where Prince Charles was traveling along with other ships ended up on the Asturian coast, specifically in Tazones. There begins a long journey to Mojados (Valladolid). They spent the night in various places in the region: San Vicente de la Barquera, Treceño, Valle de Cabuérniga and Los Tojos.
